Luminous Depths
‘Luminous depths’ is a collection for S/S 2024, focusing on creating one-off statement fashion pieces. Drawing off tropical sea species and adaptations of sea creatures. Focusing on bioluminescence, inspired by the light in the dark. Experimenting with glow in the dark thread, UV reactive fabrics and paints. Exploring the uniqueness and how alien sea species are: ‘more than 90 percent of the ocean’s species are still undiscovered’(National Geographic).
Sustainability at the forefront, reusing plastic waste and recycling fabrics like lace, pvc and spandex. Spreading awareness for plastic pollution and the ‘devastating impact on marine life’ (UNESCO). Showcasing the beauty of sea creatures, to positively influence change through textile application.
I exhibited this collection at New designers 2023. Aswell as thing part in Fashanne 2023, in the textile design category. It was an amazing experience seeing my work on the catwalk.
